Amy & Jacob: A Governor John Langdon House Wedding // NH Wedding Photographer

The 2012 wedding train keeps on rolling, and this past weekend made a stop in Portsmouth for Amy and Jacob’s celebration at the historic Governor John Langdon House. I almost get giddy on days where I am photographing locally, and in this case, even more so at the Langdon House. Due to city ordinance they are only permitted six tented functions a year. That’s not a lot of weddings for a venue, and even less when they host corporate function(s) as a part of the six. So, I was close to home at a venue where I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding — good day. But, it gets better! Enter Amy and Jacob from Brooklyn, NY. Super sweet and laid back, they’re just a pleasure to be around. GREAT day! Here’s a peek at how the day unfolded for us…

I met up with Amy around the corner from the Langdon House at the Inn at Strawberry Banke, a classic B&B right downtown…

As always, I started with some details. This historic inn has really narrow hallways that switch back and forth. Amy’s beautiful wedding dress was also worn by her mother (since modified)…

Love the shoes…

Amy was doing some touch up prior to getting dressed…

Being helped into her dress by her sister and Matron of Honor…

Though, the whole family ultimately jumped in. I love it!

Amy’s father helping with the necklace clasp…

And what beautiful detail in her dress…

All dressed, it was time to take the short walk around the block to the Langdon House. A family affair; accompanied by Mom, Dad, Sister and Niece..

The Langdon House is know for its lush gardens, of which we will see more shortly…

The signature arbor adjacent to the ceremony site…

Jacob and his Best Man, along with their two ring bearers, look quite happy to see Amy coming down the isle with her father…

A few shots from the lovely service in the garden. It’s almost hard to believe this is two blocks off of the busy downtown Market Square where thousands of tourists were milling about…

MARRIED!

Exiting under the arbor…

Following the ceremony we had time for some family portraits, as well as portraits of the newlyweds around the property. Here are a few favorites…

A few in the side garden then a few at the front of the house…

We then went back to the Secret Garden at the back of the property. A secluded spot with tall trees, lots of green and a cool brick wall…

With portraits done, I bolted to the tent before the cocktail hour wrapped up to capture some of the amazing rustic details. The flowers and Amy’s gorgeous bouquet were by Kate at Beautiful Days

This cool antique flower seed box was used to hold guests’ place cards. Each postcard corresponded to a framed one on each table…

Under the tent, the details were perfect, including different colored Ball jar vases with lots and lots of light, summery flowers. Leslie and Corrine from The Wedding Belle in Dover, NH did a great job decorating the tent — and the venue — along with detailed coordination of the day’s many moving parts. You both were awesome to work with!

A wedding day highlight for me is always cupcakes. Mmmmm, I love them. And what a treat these delicious treats were from the Seacoast’s own Sweet Genius Erin Gardner of Wild Orchid Baking Company! Erin created I think four different varieties of cupcakes and a small slicing cake for the couple. Trust me, they are as good as they look!

The reception kicked off with toasts.

Which were later followed by a first dance and parent dances…

Jacob danced with his step mother…

Following dances, we stole away for a few portraits with Amy’s father’s classic MG convertible, Such a sweet car, and it was to be Amy and Jacob’s exit ride from the wedding later that evening…

I paused for a minute to photograph the couple’s rings in front of the glow of the tent and the sun set around us…

Back inside…

DJ Steve Carrigan kicked things off and kept the dance floor moving…

Jacob’s father was first on the floor showing us how it’s done. Also getting into the swing of things was Amy’s sister and her family…

As the evening drew to a close, Amy and Jacob left the grounds under a sparkler send-off, and hopped into the waiting MG…

And off they went!

Thank you Amy and Jacob for having me at your wedding. It was a perfect day! Special thanks to Leslie at The Wedding Belle for all of your support beforehand and throughout the day. I can’t wait to work with you again. And to the folks at The White Apron also; your food is always amazing!
