A Sandy Island Camp Wedding – Jacqui & Jason

Jacqui and Jason were married at Sandy Island Camp on Lake Winnipesaukee last summer. If you are not familiar with Sandy Island, it is a YMCA family camp out in the middle of the lake, only accessible via boat. This was my third wedding photographed on the island, and it’s easily one of my favorite rustic wedding venues. Guests are treated to a boat ride aboard the Big Sandy, and welcomed to the island at the rec hall by some of the most friendly staff in the state. Most guests stay over for the weekend, making a wedding on Sandy Island a truly immersive experience.

David and I connected with Jacqui and Jason as they were getting ready. While it was sunny when we arrived on the island earlier in the morning, clouds were rolling in fast and threatening the ceremony at the outdoor chapel. Jacqui was heart-set on the outdoor nuptials, but in the end her father called it and moved the ceremony inside. It turned out to be a good idea because by the time the ceremony started it was pouring out. But, with the decision to be inside made, everyone moved on with smiles… and it’s not like indoor option is terrible at Sandy! Two gorgeous stone fire places warm guests, rustic warm wood surrounds you, and a great view overlooking the water is just outside the entire wall of doors.

Following the I-dos, guests mingled over cocktails while we finished up portraits, then everyone moved to the dining hall for dinner and toasts. Following, Jacqui and Jason kicked off the party back in the rec hall with a dramatic first dance — one of the best dips I’ve seen in years. Music and dancing then went non-stop until the final sparkler exit on the dock. It was another great day on Sandy Island, spent with a wonderful couple. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day…

Thank you Jacqui and Jason for having us out for your island, camp wedding. You were great to work with. And thanks to David for joining me once again for the ride. Great to work also by the following folks:
