A Willowdale Estate Wedding – Meghan & Sam

Meghan and Sam were married a month ago at the stunning Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA. It had been a couple of years since I was last at Willowdale, but it’s always a treat to photograph a wedding there. Walking up to the mansion, and through the front door, is like stepping back in time. Such a cool place! It’s even better when the first person you bump into is Meghan with her big, welcoming smile.

After wandering around for a little while, exploring the space once again, I met up with Sam and his groomsmen as they prepared for the ceremony. I don’t often get to spend time with the groom before the ceremony — my second shoot usually gets that honor — so it’s fun for me to start the day off with the guys. I then headed down the hall to photograph the last of Meghan’s make-up and her details before she got into her dress and headed downstairs to the ceremony in the beautiful courtyard.

Meghan and Sam’s ceremony was so personal and touching, filled with laughter and tears, and possibly a promise by Sam to always be the one to get up in the middle of the night to let their dog out. That’s love right there folks! Following the ceremony, we powered though family and wedding party photos, and then I got to spend a little time with just Meghan and Sam. Of course the stone mansion makes a perfect backdrop for portraits, but we also wandered down to the creek with paralleling footbridge. These two are so sweet together, and certainly made my job easy.

Back inside, the reception was ready to kick off. Intro, first dance, toasts and dinner. After that the music turned up and the dance floor filled. We managed to sneek out for a few more minutes for some night portraits before calling it a wrap. Below are a few of my favorite images from the day. Check them out!

Thank you Meghan and Sam for having me along to document your wedding day. Great work by the following people…
