Another day with Kismet Rock Foundation // NH Climbing Photographer

Yesterday I spent another wonderful day with the kids, volunteers and guides of Kismet Rock Foundation. The kids this week consisted of third and fourth year students, several of which I saw last year. It was good to see them again. I met the group in the morning at Cathedral Ledge. We hiked up to the Thin Air Face and set ropes on Thinner and Windfall, two excellent — and long — pitches. This was the kids’ third straight day of climbing, but despite being a little tired they all approached the routes with vigor and determination. After Program Director Mike Jewel was kind enough to hang my rope, I jugged up the fixed line to get into position to capture some of the action. Here’s a little taste of what I saw…

Students got to practice their footwork on the 5.9 slab beneath Toe Crack, as well as their belaying skills…

The volunteers truly make this all possible, as well as the companies who support Kismet, like my friends at Sterling Rope

I mentioned determination, right?

But lots of smiles too…

A high step high up on Windfall…

Yup, it’s sooooooo good…

By mid-afternoon things began winding down…

And everyone packed up and headed out…

What a GREAT group of kids!

I am always psyched to join Kismet for the day. I am already looking forward to next year!
