Katie & Rob: A Mount Washington Hotel Wedding // NH Wedding Photographer

A little over two weeks ago I found myself back at one of my favorite venues, the Omni Mount Washington Hotel, for Katie and Rob’s big day. I always say that every wedding, even if at a venue I have been to many times, is completely unique, and this day absolutely was! Katie and Rob’s wedding was taking place in the late morning, so I was up before the sun and eager to catch the sunrise over the White Mountains. Alas, as seems to be the norm this Fall, it was overcast and raining, however, that just made the burnt orange, red and yellow foliage pop more. Weather and location aside, Katie and Rob had a few highlights for their day planned, so I knew it was going to be a good time; you’ll see what I mean. Until we get there, though, here’s a glimpse at how the day unfolded…

On my drive north the colors were rich, and the fog and rain added to the ambiance…

Arriving at the Hotel, colors seemed to be in peek form…

At 8AM I met up with Katie and the ladies at the Bretton Woods slope side condos as they were waking up and starting to get ready. I was greeted not only by welcoming smiles but also the smell of bacon and eggs in the kitchen. It’s true, even weddings are better with bacon!

I was mesmerized as Katie’s stylist “sewed” her hair in place. I’d never seen that before, and was so impressed…

Final make-up touch ups were done back at the Hotel…

And then it was time to get dressed…

“How does this thing work?”

Katie on her way to meet Rob downstairs…

I love first looks…

We then headed off for a few portraits…

The always fabulous Sara Severance, Floral Director at the Hotel, did the flowers. Katie’s bouquet was gorgeous!

I love doing portraits before the ceremony, but eventually I have to stop shooting and get going to the main event. Here’s Katie with her sister tending to a little final touch up…

Foliage, colorful throws and beautiful flowers surrounded the ceremony on the South Veranda…

Here comes the bride, along with her father and sister…

The South Veranda…

… and the incredible view from the South Veranda, overlooking Crawford Notch. Kim Steward officiated the ceremony, and always does a fabulous job for her couples…

All of the sisters — Katie’s and Rob’s — joined a reading…

Happy.

Married!

Some details from the reception in the Sun Dining Room…

Three large family-style tables were setup for the guests. Each was adorned with a “garden” runner. So cool, and well executed Sara!

Here is that gorgeous bouquet again…

Mr. and Mrs… and a little shout out to Sheila in the background, one of the very talented coordinators at the Hotel. A day spent on a wedding with Sheila is going to go well…

Katie’s father gave a great toast, with lots of advice for Rob…

And Rob’s best man offered Katie some advise as well…

First dance…

… and parent dances. Always touching…

And the cake cutting…

As the reception lunch wound down, we ventured back outside for some more portraits, here with the grand hotel in the background…

Fall is my favorite time of year, and I was grateful that the rain eased but the overcast stayed, providing very even light…

Portraits done, the day then transitioned from great to AWESOME!! Katie and Rob were going zip-lining, in full wedding attire as well! I am very familiar with photographing climbers and all of the rigging that goes with it, but kudos to the folks at Bretton Woods Canopy Tours for getting Katie all geared up in her dress…

And they’re off! Neck and neck out of the gate…

Rob is pulling away…

These two images make it into my folder of most memorable wedding moments ever!

Katie and Rob, thank you so much for having me along to document your day, and for being so darn adventurous on your wedding day!
