Whitney & Joe: An Inn at Pleasant Lake Wedding // NH Wedding Photographer

A couple of weeks prior to their wedding day, I met Whitney and Joe for the engagement session at Whitney’s family’s lake house on Lake Sunapee, the same place their wedding would take place. We had a great time hiking through the woods an hanging out at the boat house. I headed home super excited for the wedding on the lake two weekends later. Here’s how their day unfolded…

I arrived the The Inn at Pleasant Lake where the reception would take place and both Joe and Whitney were going to be getting ready. Oh, and as per usual, it was pouring…

This is a great little New England Inn nestled in the woods near the edge of Pleasant Lake in western NH. It had been over a year since I’d been to the Inn, and I was happy to be back during near peak foliage…

I arrived at the appointed time just in time to catch the guys on their way out. We paused for a quick photo in front of the Inn…

When I went inside to connect with Whitney, I found that she was changing venue and would now be getting ready at the lake house because of the pouring rain, so we packed up and headed out. The house on Lake Sunapee is gorgeous…

The ceremony was to take place over looking the lake in on the top floor of the boat house. It felt like being in a tree house above the water…

Whitney got dressed in minutes and was ready to go…

Joe was so excited to see Whitney, and vice versa…

I mentioned a tree house, right? Well, nicer than my tree house, but still tree house-esque!

It was a touching, emotion filled ceremony performed by justice of the peace Kim Steward

I think this is one of my favorite ceremony images of the year…

Married!

A brief moment right after the ceremony…

Following the ceremony we took a little time for group photos and portraits of the newlyweds…

Flowers for the day were by Art of Nature, and look gorgeous…

Then it was back to the Inn for the reception…

With the rain temporarily subsiding, we grabbed a few shots of the entire wedding party, and a few more portraits, taking advantage of the foliage along the lake shore…

A few details from the dining room…

The evening kicked off with several great toasts. First by Whitney’s father…

And he pulled out all of the stops… Joe as Braveheart and Whitney tagging along for some rain forest research in South America…

Whitney’s mom and Joe’s father joined in as well…

Along with Joe’s best man, who started with a dig at the Yale alumni in the room — you know, Whitney, Joe and he are Harvard grads, as well as a one of Whitney’s good friends from medical school.

A final speech by Whitney’s grandfather, who happened to be married on the same day many moons earlier…

Following speeches dinner was served. The food at the Inn is amazing, prepared by chef Brian MacKenzie, who prepared a delicious vegetarian meal…

Cake cutting…

After a multi-course meal, dancing kicked off with Whitney and Joe’s first dance, with music by NRG Entertainment

And then everyone joined in…

And a parting shot of Whitney and Joe on the dance floor as I said my farewell for the evening…

Thank you Whitney and Joe for having me at your wedding. I loved the everything about your day, and am so glad I was able to be there to document it.
