National Lampoons Mexican Vacation

I don’t post lot of family photos here, but I feel compelled to share a few images from our wonderful family getaway in Mexico last week, which was the first with all four of us (we had been to Mexico with Abby before she turned two, but that was 3 years ago). The whole dynamic was different, and we had so much fun! Colin (turns two in April) had no lack of energy. Starting with the long flight (after 1.5 hours on a runway due to snow in Boston) where he just said “more” upon landing, to racing away from us, well, all the time, the three of us struggled to keep up. Abby, the big sister (five in June), attempted to keep the reigns on him — and occasionally a leash! — to no avail! We didn’t do a lot of stopping on this trip except at bed time when we crashed hard. I love vacations, and this trip, which included my in-laws, was amazing. Sure, Rebecca and I felt like the Griswalds chasing our kids around, deftly skirting meltdowns and keeping Colin head-up in the pool, but it was all the best kid of fun. And the best way for me to share it is with some photos. I hope that you enjoy this little peek into my life… I know I enjoyed creating every one of these images!

Our trip started with howling snow at 3:30 am outside Logan airport in Boston. Colin was absolutely enamored with the planes, snow plows and ground crew, and Abby was just rolling with it all. She’s the best traveler…

6+ hours after boarding our plane we landed in the land of palm trees and humidity…

Arriving at our destination, the kiddos take it all in… And Abby was on Colin duty while we checked in, so naturally she pulled out his “safety harness”. Turn for a moment and that boy is GONE!

A little later that evening Nana and Papa showed up. Papa was excited, but Colin just played it cool while we headed off to our home for the week…

The next morning I headed out early to see the sun come up…

And inside the kids were ready to hit the beach!

Don’t worry, that’s water in his margarita glass. He did like the salt though…

The sky was incredible every evening, and the beach was gorgeous…

Abby…

Colin…

Nana and Papa, and Abby giving me the are-you-still-taking-pictures look…

One of my favorites from the trip…

Rebecca and the kiddos playing on a hammock on the beach…

Exploring…

One evening a mariachi band put on a show. Abby was mesmerized…

The following morning, “Papa, where are you? I’m hungry.”

Goofballs. Why have lunch when you can have chocolate chip cookies. Caught red handed…

My other favorite photo. Love.

I like the textures in this image…

All great things much come to an end. Time to pack the princess suitcase…

Adios…

Thanks for indulging me while I share some fun images of my favorite people 🙂
