Ashley & Jim: A Newburyport Engagement Session

Last night I wrapped up my last shoot before the holiday weekend (did I mention that I am taking the weekend off? Woohooo!!!!). August was a very busy month for me, as this blog will attest, and I went to some awesome places and spent time with some very cool people. Last night was a wonderful way to end the month photographing Ashley and Jim’s engagement in Newburyport, MA. A huge part of the fun of doing these shoots is the people that I get to photograph and spend time with. Well, they don’t come much more fun than these two, though I must admit I was a little nervous right out of the gate. As I understand it, Jim may not have been entirely into this whole photo shoot idea. In fact, Ashley considered not mentioning it until right beforehand. But, after about 13 seconds any worry I had was dispelled. We laughed — sometimes hysterically — a lot as we explored downtown Newburyport. Before sunset we headed out to the beach at Plum Island. As a southern boy (OK, mid-Atlantic, but it’s way more southern than here) I LOVE this sandy beach with dunes and sea grass. We had a good time as the sun went down, and I even almost went swimming… by accident of course! In many cases we would have wrapped up our shoot at the beach, but everyone was having a good time (or so they told me; thanks for being so nice… or lying…???), we decided to stop for a few more night time shots as we passed back through Newburyport. Anyway, it really was great to spend a few hours getting to know these two, learning about their AWESOME wedding next Spring and creating some fun images. Below are a few of my favorites…
