Kim & Andrew: A Meredith, NH Engagement Session

It can’t be sunny and blue bird skies all of the time, right? Such was the case for Kim and Andrew’s engagement session yesterday. For a moment there was a hint that the sun might come out, but then it started raining again. I met them and their puppy Sam at Kim’s family’s beautiful house on Lake Winnipesaukee. Despite the drizzle, the air was warm and the foliage popping with autumn color. We spent some time around the house, and then as it neared sunset we drove into town. While I had no expectations for a gorgeous sunset taking place, I also did not anticipate the monsoon rain that would befall us as we walked out onto the town pier. Holy rain, Batman! I was soaked entirely through to the tips of my socks — and that was inside my rubber rain shoes I thought I had the great foresight to wear! I am fortunate to have pretty hearty clients, as well as camera equipment because I’ve definitely been testing both lately… rain, wind, water fountains, etc. seems to be the theme for the summer. Despite the torrent, we fired off a few shots and then hightailed it for cover. A few more shots inside one of the old mill buildings in town and we called it a night. This was definitely my wettest engagement/wedding shoot ever (I thought Kim and Adam’s Brandeis engagement session would hold that record for awhile!), though not quite my wettest ever (my 1DX did go into submarine mode while shooting water skiing and wake boarding in Maine this summer, but lived; eek!), and it will certainly be one of my most memorable, that’s for sure. Now that I am (mostly) dried out, here are a few of my faves…
