Dana & Charles: A Sebago Lake and Portland Wedding // Maine Wedding Photographer

As a native of the mid-Atlantic region, there are many, many places in New England that I’ve never been to. Sebago Lake is one such place. Last Saturday, David and I ventured north from Portsmouth to Dana and Charles’ wedding at the private residences of Dana’s parents and aunt and uncle. The two homes were built in the early 1900s by Dana’s family, and have been cared forĀ  by them ever since. Located right on Sebago Lake, and surrounded by towering pines, Dana spent most of her summers here growing up. Later on, Charles and Dana met at Colby College, so Maine — and Sebago Lake in particular — made the perfect setting for their wedding day.

We arrived to Osmunda House — Dana’s aunt and uncle’s home — where Dana would be preparing for her wedding ceremony…

The forest surrounding the property holds a special place in Dana’s heart, and having the opportunity to stroll around a little I see why! Here are a few details found as we wandered around…

Inside, as the girls started to straggle in and before the real “getting ready” began, I too grabbed a few dress and shoe details. I was told that when the home was built it was rushed to be completed in time for a wedding. Unfortunately there are no remaining images from that day, but I love that we now have these wedding details and images at the home…

When Dana arrived from hair and makeup in town she was glowing…

The ladies quickly set to work preparing, and were fortunate to be in the one air conditioned room between the two houses!

Dressed, looking amazing, and giddy… a great combination!

As final preparations were being made, we paused for a few portraits…

Over at Moosewood House — Dana’s parent’s home — David was hanging with Charles and the guys. Here’s what he found…

Charles…

Looking sharp, and enjoying the moment…

All ready, David was able to get Charles and the guys outside for a few pictures before the ceremony…

While back inside, we paused for one shot of all of the ladies before heading out. Flowers were by Watkins Flowers and looked fabulous!

A quick peek by Dana’s sister to make sure everything outside was ready…

… and we were off! Dana making her way to the ceremony captured by David with Charles looking on…

And more more coming down the isle…

I am also in love with these trees! There were approximately 60 of Dana and Charles’ closest family and friends in attendance…

Here are a few shots from the ceremony. The images of Charles below are by David. Great shots!

The exchange of vows…

Exchange of rings…

Sealing the deal, so to say!

MARRIED!

Following the ceremony we captured a handful of group and family portraits, and then spent some time with the newlyweds as the guests filtered out to the reception back in Portland, ME. Here;s one of the wedding party…

Headed to the Lake…

Down at the water is this amazing boat house. I seriously could just live in the one room top floor. The view is incredible…

This is one of my favorite images on the porch of the boathouse…

Portraits done, we all headed to Slainte Wine Bar in Portland for the reception…

A few details before the couple arrived…

What everyone needs to know, captured by David…

After just a little while Dana and Charles made their casual entrance to a roar of cheers…

A few apps and food, a couple of glasses of wine, and Charles’ Best Man kicked things off with a wonderful toast, recounting years of friendship and some mishap. It was a good toast.

Followed by their first dance…

And then one more toast and thank you by Dana’s father…

Loved the gluten free cupcakes, and a love birds on top…

And with that the dancing kicked off, and I think Charles’ father stole the show at this point!

As our time drew to a close, we snuck out one more time at Sunset for a few more portraits… this time in the middle of the road. Gotta go were the view is!

Thank you Dana and Charles for welcoming us so openly to your wedding celebration. And thank you David for your always-wonderful images.
