Chelsey & Tom: A Rockport Art Association Wedding

Chelsey and Tom’s Rockport Art Association wedding was one of the weddings I looked forward to most this season. Last summer, I met these two while photographing Sarah and Mike’s wedding. They were part of one of the most energetic and fun wedding parties I have ever worked with. Naturally, I knew their own wedding day in Rockport, MA would bring that same excitement and personality.

I traveled south to the Massachusetts coast for their beautiful summer wedding weekend. The day began at Rockport Inn & Suites, where Chelsey and Tom got ready in neighboring rooms. Even though they stayed just steps apart all morning, they still carefully avoided seeing each other before the first look. Because of that, the anticipation built throughout the morning and made their first look even more meaningful.

After getting ready, we headed into downtown Rockport for their first look on the pier. Rockport offers so many incredible locations for wedding photography, especially along the waterfront. The harbor views, fishing boats, and coastal charm created the perfect backdrop for their Rockport wedding photos. Following the first look, we explored downtown with the wedding party and captured portraits throughout the area.

One of the best parts of the day was the energy from the wedding party. Many familiar faces from Sarah and Mike’s wedding returned, so the entire day felt like a reunion. Everyone brought so much enthusiasm, humor, and support to the celebration. As a wedding photographer, working with couples and wedding parties who fully embrace the experience always makes the day even more rewarding.

The ceremony and reception at the Rockport Art Association were absolutely beautiful. The venue combines historic New England charm with a unique artistic atmosphere, making it a wonderful location for a coastal Massachusetts wedding. Throughout the evening, Chelsey and Tom stayed completely present with each other and their guests, which allowed for so many genuine moments and emotional photographs.

Additionally, these two gave us plenty of time for creative portraits throughout the wedding day. That extra time always makes a huge difference. Instead of rushing from one event to the next, we could slow down, explore the scenery, and create memorable images together. Some of my favorite wedding portraits happen during those relaxed moments in between the schedule.

I also have to give a special shoutout to groomsman Chris, who absolutely brought the energy all day long. Not only did he keep everyone laughing, but he also grabbed me water after I sprinted down the street for a shot, held my gray card, and even stepped in as a mobile light stand during sunset portraits. Every wedding photographer needs a Chris in the wedding party.
