Amesbury MA Engagement Photos – Dana & Stephen

Last night I had the chance to photograph Dana and Stephen’s Amesbury MA engagement photos, starting with a relaxed session by the lake near their home. The evening began hot and sunny, but New England weather had other plans. As distant thunder rolled in, dramatic storm clouds quickly built to the northwest—creating an incredible backdrop for their engagement session.

We stayed by the water as long as we could, capturing a mix of natural, candid moments and creative portraits before the skies finally opened up and sent us running for cover.

From there, we headed into downtown Amesbury, Massachusetts, which turned out to be an amazing location for engagement photography. The area is full of character—featuring historic brick architecture, scenic waterfalls, and charming bridges—perfect for couples looking for a unique and visually rich setting for their photos.

As lightning moved through the area, we took a quick break at one of Dana and Stephen’s favorite local spots before heading back out to finish the session. With the storm passing, we were able to capture a series of nighttime engagement portraits that brought a completely different mood to their gallery.

Overall, it was an unforgettable evening and a perfect example of how embracing the unexpected can lead to some of the most memorable and creative engagement photos. I had an incredible time getting to know Dana and Stephen, and I’m already looking forward to photographing their wedding day next year.
