A day with Kismet Rock Foundation

I had the opportunity to spend a day with Kismet Rock Foundation at Cathedral Ledge in North Conway, New Hampshire. As a climber, it’s a place that means a lot to me. The freedom, the self-reliance, and the places climbing can take you are hard to match.

Rock climbing is also a powerful metaphor for life. We may all start in the same place, but the path we take, the choices we make, and how we move through challenges are always different.

The Value of Climbing and Life Skills

Climbing requires a foundation of skills to stay safe and progress. The same is true in life. You can move forward without preparation, or you can take the time to learn, listen, and practice.

Kismet Rock Foundation focuses on that second path. Through rock climbing programs, they introduce young people to the sport while teaching confidence, responsibility, and problem-solving.

Each summer, Kismet Rock Foundation brings kids to places like Cathedral Ledge to experience climbing firsthand. These programs create opportunities for growth, both on and off the rock.

I’m always grateful for the chance to spend time with the instructors and students, documenting their experiences and the energy they bring to each day.
