Lonesome Lake White Mountains Elopement
I’m excited to share Jodi and Kris’ Lonesome Lake elopement in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It was an unforgettable adventure wedding in one of the most scenic spots in the state. As a New Hampshire adventure wedding photographer, this is exactly the kind of day I love to capture.
Jodi and Kris chose to marry along the Appalachian Trail, where their story began. They met while Jodi was thru-hiking the AT. Kris was out for a weekend trip with friends. For their elopement, they returned to Lonesome Lake. It overlooks the iconic Franconia Ridge, where they shared one of their first hikes together.
Planning a White Mountains elopement? Lonesome Lake is one of the best locations in New Hampshire. The hike is under 3 miles with moderate elevation gain. It feels like an adventure but stays accessible. There are no scrambles or steep sections. That makes it a great choice for many couples.
When planning your Lonesome Lake elopement, contact the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). You don’t have to book the Lonesome Lake Hut, but it can enhance your day. You may be able to arrange a meal or even an overnight stay.
On the morning of their wedding, Jodi and Kris got ready at a rental near Loon Mountain. They packed their dress and suit and hiked up with close friends. The hut staff allowed them to use a room to get dressed. They also used the porch as a basecamp before the ceremony.
The rest of the day was simple and meaningful. It’s everything a White Mountains elopement should be.
