Maine Lake House Engagement Photos – Courtney & Justin

On Wednesday, I drove north for Courtney and Justin’s Maine engagement photos. They were only in town for a short time, so we had a small window to make their session happen. Unfortunately, the weather forecast was far from ideal.

Just one day earlier, Madison, Maine experienced torrential rain. In fact, the storm caused flash flooding and even a sinkhole that swallowed a car. Because of this, I was feeling a bit pessimistic heading into the session. However, that feeling quickly disappeared after just a few minutes with Courtney and Justin.

At first, both admitted they were nervous about being photographed. Even so, they jumped right in. Before long, they relaxed and started to have fun. Despite the camera, they were completely themselves—playful, genuine, and even a little goofy (yes, nose biting included). As a result, their personalities really came through in the photos.

We began their engagement session at a lake house that holds special meaning for Courtney. She spent time there growing up, so it felt like the perfect place to start. Afterward, we headed to the historic Lakewood Theater for a different backdrop and atmosphere.

Although the weather never fully cleared, it didn’t hold us back. In fact, the soft light and moody skies added a unique feel to their Maine engagement photos. More importantly, the entire session was relaxed and full of laughter.

I’m already looking forward to photographing their wedding next July. Until then, enjoy a few of my favorite moments from their engagement session in Maine.
