Nicole and Marty’s Isles of Shoals wedding photos are some of my favorites from the season. Their destination wedding took place on Star Island, a small island located about ten miles off the coast of New Hampshire. As a result, the entire experience felt unique from the very start.

Guests gathered in Portsmouth on Sunday morning and then boarded the Thomas Leighton for the one-hour boat ride to the island. During the ride, excitement built as everyone left the mainland behind. Upon arrival, the setting immediately felt timeless.

Star Island is quiet and simple. In addition, it features winding paths, historic stone cottages, and sweeping ocean views in every direction. As a New Hampshire wedding photographer, locations like this are always inspiring.

Before the ceremony, I spent time with Nicole. Meanwhile, my second photographer connected with Marty on the other side of the island. Soon after, guests gathered along the rocky shoreline for the ceremony. A lighthouse and soft evening light created a perfect coastal backdrop.

Following the ceremony, the celebration moved across several iconic buildings on the island. First, cocktail hour took place at the Oceanic Hotel, both inside and out on the porch overlooking the water. Next, dinner was held in the historic Newton building. Finally, guests gathered in the Brookfield building for dancing.

Throughout the evening, the atmosphere stayed relaxed and personal. Guests explored the island and moved freely between spaces. As a result, the celebration felt natural and unhurried.

The next morning, everyone met again at the Oceanic Hotel for breakfast. Afterward, guests prepared for the boat ride back to the mainland.

Overall, this wedding was everything Nicole and Marty had hoped for. In fact, it became one of my favorite experiences of the year. One moment stands out most—a photo of Nicole’s 13-year-old dog, Esher, running toward them at sunset. Without a doubt, it remains one of my favorite images.
