Portsmouth Senior Portrait Session – Leah
Leah’s Portsmouth NH senior portrait session was one of those evenings that reminds me why I love photographing in this city. Between the coastal light, historic streets, and waterfront views, Portsmouth offers an incredible variety of backdrops—all within walking distance.
Although I don’t photograph a large number of senior sessions each year, I always enjoy them when I do. Senior portraits have a different pace than weddings. They feel more relaxed, more personal, and give us time to explore and create something unique.
Exploring Strawbery Banke & Prescott Park
We started Leah’s session at Strawbery Banke Museum, one of the most iconic spots for senior photos in Portsmouth, NH. The mix of historic homes, gardens, and textures creates a timeless look that works beautifully for portraits. From there, we made our way over to Prescott Park. During the summer, the flowers are in full bloom, and the waterfront paths add a softer, more natural feel to the session. It’s an easy transition between locations, which helps keep things relaxed and unforced.
Sunset at Four Tree Island
To finish the session, we headed over to Four Tree Island just in time for sunset. This is easily one of my favorite spots for Portsmouth NH senior portraits, especially at the end of the day when the light drops low over the water.
The light, the breeze, and the open space all came together perfectly. It was a calm, easy way to wrap up the session—and those final few minutes of golden light made for some of my favorite images of the night.
A Portsmouth Senior Session to Remember
Overall, Leah’s session was a great example of what makes senior photography in Portsmouth, NH so special. Within a short distance, we were able to capture a wide range of looks—from historic and classic to coastal and modern.
Just as importantly, the session felt relaxed and natural. That’s always the goal: create space for real moments while guiding things just enough to get great light and composition.
