Crystal Hills at Rosebrook Lodge Wedding Guide

A Modern Mountain Wedding Venue at Bretton Woods

If you’re picturing a wedding with unparalleled views of the northern Presidential Range and a contemporary, slope-side setting, Crystal Hills at Rosebrook Lodge has quickly become one of the most exciting wedding venues in the White Mountains.

Accessible by gondola, the venue sits high above Bretton Woods and offers unparalleled views of the northern Presidential Range. While still connected to the Mount Washington Resort experience, Crystal Hills provides a more contemporary mountain-lodge aesthetic than its neighbor, the Omni Mount Washington Hotel just across the street.

As a NH wedding photographer, I’ve photographed several weddings here, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite venues to shoot. Below is my guide to planning — and photographing — a wedding at Crystal Hills at Rosebrook Lodge.

Why Couples Love Crystal Hills at Rosebrook Lodge

  • Unparalleled views of the northern Presidential Range
  • A contemporary mountain-lodge aesthetic
  • A memorable gondola ride up the mountain for the couple and guests
  • Slope-side setting at Bretton Woods Ski Resort
  • Pairs naturally with the Omni Mount Washington Hotel for getting-ready space and extra photo locations
  • Beautiful across every season, especially fall foliage and snow-capped winter views

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Crystal Hills at Rosebrook Lodge

The gondola ride up is honestly part of the experience. It gives the whole day a sense of occasion before the ceremony even starts, and the views along the way make for great candid moments with the wedding party.

Once you’re up top, the payoff is unparalleled views of the northern Presidential Range, visible from nearly every angle, so there’s rarely a bad direction to shoot in.

Because most couples get ready and take their first look across the street at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel before heading up the mountain, a wedding here often blends two completely different aesthetics into one gallery.

The result is the historic elegance of the hotel in the morning, followed by a modern mountain-lodge feel up top for the ceremony and reception.

Ceremony & Reception

Ceremonies typically take place on the patio adjacent to the Crystal Ballroom, overlooking Mount Washington and the Presidential Ridge.

The reception follows in the Crystal Ballroom itself, a contemporary space that keeps the mountain views close by even after the sun goes down.

Best Photo Locations

One of the greatest advantages of a wedding at Crystal Hills at Rosebrook Lodge is the incredible variety of portrait locations, both up the mountain and across the street at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel.

Some of my favorite locations include:

  • The ceremony patio, for mountain-backdrop portraits and the ceremony itself
  • The gondola ride up, for candid shots of the couple and wedding party
  • Sunset portraits beneath the gondola
  • The Omni Mount Washington Hotel’s Jewel Terrace and main dining room, if getting ready or doing a first look across the street

Between the mountain-top ceremony space and the historic backdrop of the Omni across the street, couples get a genuinely varied wedding gallery in a single day.

Weather Considerations

One of the biggest considerations when planning a wedding at Crystal Hills at Rosebrook Lodge is the elevation.

Because the venue sits higher up the mountain, it can run several degrees cooler and windier than the valley floor, which is worth factoring into your timeline, especially for spring and fall weddings.

The Crystal Ballroom gives you a warm, covered fallback if weather turns.

Even on a cloudy day, the elevation often means you’re above the cloud line, which can make for genuinely dramatic photos.
