Rustic NH Farm Wedding – Susan & Scott
I am super excited to share Susan and Scott’s rustic NH farm wedding today. They were married on their farm last Thursday in Madison, NH. Their wedding was 100% uniquely their own, and no detail was left unattended. Their celebration was a completely organic/recycled/reused/re(ally)-awesome event. In Sue’s words:
As much local, reused, repurposed & organic as possible. We raised the pigs. I made all of the cloth napkins, scotts mom cut the table cloths. I went to local thrift stores and bought all the silverware and table decorations including hurricane lamps, vintage bottles, lace for over the table cloths (half of which are actually lace curtains), so we can re donate them afterwards. Scott made all the birch wood candle holders. I made all the labels to put on drinking glasses out of old birch wood. We got all of the platters from thrift as well. Flowers from ours and friends yards and fields. We are buying all of the fresh produce from our friends Gina and Geof who run the Alma Farm in Porter, Maine and also some from our friends Suzie and Sean who own Heartseed Farm in Intervale. Cornbread from Village Bakery. Local cheese and crackers from the Big Farm Creamery. I made all the paper garland strings. We are using compost-able plates to use in the garden afterwards or give to our friend Janet who is starting a composting business. We are using prayer flags as our guest book because the prayers on a flag are carried to all the wind touches as it passes through them, so it blesses all with the well wishes people have for us today.
I just LOVE all of the thought and care that went into their planning, but not just into the look and feel of things but for its impact on the local community and environment!
With all that awesomeness noted above, could the day get any better? Well, YEAH! Aside from being really great people, Susan and Scott are also climbers and we share many of the same friends. On this Thursday evening, Susan and Scott’s wedding was not only the place to be for their families, it was the place to be for the north country climbing community! It was great to see friends and briefly catch up on travels, ascents and shenanigans. So, all of this combines to create a collection of images below that I feel really connected to. I hope you enjoy them!

Susan and Scott, thank you first for putting so much thought and care into planning your celebration. Everything was beautiful. And then, thank you for inviting me to participate in the day and entrusting me to document it for you!
